An Artist is only as good as that which inspires them
Inspiration comes in many forms, but nothing drives a heart of passion like music. Not the soulless crap you hear on the radio these days, but the music that doesn't make the cut of mainstream media.
As I wrote each and every chapter of the Neophyte Saga there were certain songs playing in the background that lit my imagination like wildfire. With great honour, I would like to share these certain songs with you in hopes that you will support the music that you don't necessarily hear about. Some of these artists and bands simply radiate talent and make these Justin Bieber and Nicky Manage idiots look like amateurs.
The Birthday Massacre
First and formost they are the common denominator of influentual inspiration when it comes to the Neophyte Saga. Like a soundtrack, I could see each epic scene play out in my head as this industrial gothic poetry played in the background. They are certainly no one-hit-wonder as every new album gets better than the last. I suggest you purchase every album... you will not be disappointed.
This band continues to surprise me over the years. It is rare to see a Christian metal band with so much potential. Don't let it detour you, Skillet kicks some serious ass on the metal scene and are as inspirational as they come.
New Years Day
Relitively new to me, New Years Day certainly is playing a part in writing The Beast and the Harlot. Good lyrics, catchy rythms and heavy sound. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on these guys.
This heavy hitter instantly took my soul by storm. They are not afraid to push the boundaries of the metal genre, with their symphonic harmony and heart crunching lyrics, grab your iPod and go for a walk... you'll begin to question everything.
An operamatic metal medley of beautiful tones, difficult vocal ranges and masterful audio composition. Within Temptation redefines their genre and takes it to the next level. It is most definitely worth a listen.
A long time favorite, Evan's Blue continues to pump out some of the best music on today's metal scene. Considering their track record of endurance, I wouldn't count on them letting down their fans anytime soon.
